If you want to free up the desktop of your Windows 10 computer/PC but still seek for a way to easily launch the program, then there are three option available to you. Those options are:
- Pin to Taskbar
- Pin to the start menu
- Create a launch keyboard shortcut
Pin to Taskbar: To pin a program icon to the taskbar of Windows 10, select the program shortcut in the desktop, next right-click on the program shortcut and then click Pin to taskbar on the menu that appear.

Pin To The Start Menu: In Windows 10, to pin a program to the start menu, locate the program icon in the All Apps section or in the Most used section of the Windows 10 start menu, next right-click on the icon and then click Pin to Start in the menu that appears.

Create a Launch keyboard Shortcut: to create a launch keyboard shortcut for a program in Windows 10, right-click on the program shortcut in the desktop, next click on Properties in the menu that will appear, next select the Shortcut tab in the Properties dialog box, and then input a key/character you want to use as the shortcut in the Shortcut key text box, finally click Apply and then OK.
The Main Point
Utilizing any of those three option outline above will enable you to launch a program easily even if the program shortcut is not in the desktop. So just because a program shortcut is not in the desktop you do not have to go to the All Apps section of the Windows 10 start menu every time you want to launch the program.
