What Really Is A VPN?

VPN is the acronym for Virtual Private Network. This means that VPN is an Online Network that when you connect to, Secure or make Private your internet activity.

Have you heard about heard about HTTP or HTTPS enabled websites? Well the difference between these two type of website is;
An HTTP enabled website does not secure you access to their site. This means that people who are on the same network (let's say on the same Public WiFi Network) with you can spy on your activities on that site.
Whereas, in the case of HTTPS enabled website, your connection to the website is secure and thus nobody can spy on your activity to that website, that can only know that you have visited a particular website, but cannot know of your activity on that website.

On the other hand, when you use a VPN, the VPN service provider will now generalize your internet security so that, whether you are visiting an HTTP or HTTPS enabled website or not, nobody can spy on your internet activity, in fact, they will not even know which website you are visiting.

Securing your internet activities/connection is the basic thing that a VPN does but not the only thing. So apart from securing your online activities from spying eyes, they also change your online location.
Because VPN is a Network, once you connect to it, your location on the internet will be changed to the location of the VPN network you connect to. This means that if you connect to a VPN network that is in the U.K for example, then any website you visit will think that you are actually a U.K residence even if you are not.

The Keynote
A VPN is a Network that is Online which when you connect to will Secure your internet activities from spying eyes such as hackers, government, including your own ISP (Internet Service Provider)
