Making Calls With The Signal Private Messenger App

The Signal Private Messenger app is one unique app because it allows you to make calls without the possibility of your conversation being recorded by a server, since calls made with the app do not go through a server, but are encrypted end-to-end.

Making private calls though is only possible, if the person you are calling is also using the Signal Private Messenger app, else, the call will not be encrypted end-to-end. To make calls using the Signal app, do the following:

  1. Open the Signal Private Messenger app.

  2. Tap of the blue pencil button which is on the bottom-right of the screen.
Tapping the button will initiate the conversation screen, where you will be required to select a contact in your phonebook or using the Enter name or number bar at the top, you can type in the person's cell number if their contact have not been saved in your phone previously.

  3. Once you have selected a contact or have used the Enter name or number bar to type in the number of the person you want to call, now, tap the Call button which is the phone icon at the top-left of the screen.
If the phone icon isImage titled Android7calllocked.png it means the person you are calling has the Signal Private Messenger app, and thus your call will be encrypted end-to-end making it a private call.
But if the phone icon isImage titled Android7call.pngit means the person you are calling does not have the Signal Private Messenger app, thus, your call will not be encrypted, rather the call will go through the server of your mobile carrier.
This is how simple it is to make calls with the Signal Private Messenger app.
