What Is A Thumb Drive

A Thumb Drive is alternatively known as a pen drive, jump drive, disk key, disk on key, flash-drive, memory stick or USB memory, and they all refers to a portable storage device.

Unlike an hard drive, thumb drive uses an integrated circuit memory chip as its storage technology and thus, it has no movable parts.

The storage capacity of thumb drive range from at least 256 megabytes to terabytes of data.

Thumb drive usually have a permanent plastic or aluminum casings covering the memory while the usb port used for connecting to modern computers has a temporary casing, which needs to be removed when connecting to a computer is required.

The configuration, that is the appearance of a thumb drive have no effect on its effectiveness, and so it can take any shape depending on the manufacturer.
