Will It Be Wise To Cover Your Webcam When Not In Use?






Have you not heard? Webcam can be hijacked!. This means that even though you are not using your webcam, the webcam can still be active, giving visual information to the hacker without you even noticing it. But that is not the problem.

The fact is, no one can hijack you webcam unless your computer has been compromised. And when your computer have been compromised by an hacker, there are a lot of things that can be done and controlling the functionality of your webcam is just one of them. Among other things that can be done is that the hacker can record your keystrokes, corrupt your data, encrypt your data, or delete your data; it could even send spam or do any of a thousand other things you don’t want to have happen.

So the solution is, not covering your webcam when it is not in use - though we are not against that - it is getting a good security software for your computer which will keep hackers away from your computer. Because when they are in, manipulating the webcam of your computer is just one thing they can do.
