How To Check The State Of Network Discovery Option In Windows 7



The state in which the Network Discovery Option of your Windows 7 PC is, determine if your computers date (files and printer connected to you computer) can be seen by other people in the network you are signed in. So the state at which you network discovery option is, affect to a great extent your privacy and security especially if you signed in to a public network (especially free Wi-Fi networks)


So to carry out the check, follow the steps outlined below.
 

When your control panel is viewed by Category:  
  1. Open your control panel
  2. Click on Network and Internet 
  3. Click on Network and Sharing Center 
  4. On the left section of the screen that appears, click on Change Advanced Sharing Settings. 
  5. Click on the chevron icon to expand the current network profile you are signed in
The section titled Network Discovery will show you the state in which your network discovery option is.

  1. Open your Control Panel 
  2. Click on Network and Sharing Center 
  3. On the left section of the screen that appears, click on Change Advanced Sharing Settings.
